Short Biography

Dr. Ashok Krishnamoorthy is a Clinical Associate Professor in the UBC Department of Psychiatry, and was appointed as the Program Director for Postgraduate Geriatric Psychiatry Subspecialty in 2016. In this role, he has been responsible for the overall delivery of the program, ensuring that it continues to fully meet the RCPSC standards of accreditation. His duties have also included overseeing the successful implementation of the Competence By Design (CBD) curriculum in the CAP Subspecialty Program as of July 1, 2021.

A Department member since 2015, Dr. Krishnamoorthy is also the Psychiatry Department Head and Medical Director at Richmond Hospital, as well as a Psychiatrist at the Centre for Huntington[‘s Disease. He is the recipient of the 2020 UBC Faculty of Medicine Clinical Faculty Award for Excellence in Community Practice Teaching, VFMP in recognition of his significant educational contributions and impact to his local community.

Clinical Focus

Dr. Krishnamoorthy’s clinical focus and areas of expertise include community geriatric psychiatry, geriatric and working age cognitive disorders, psychopathology, substance use related brain damage, Huntington Disease, acquired brain injury, psychosocial management in severe mental illness, and health promotion in the medical workforce.
