Biography
Dr. John Ogrodniczuk is a Professor and Director of the UBC Psychotherapy Program, North America’s 2nd largest medically based psychotherapy training program. His psychotherapy research program examines relationships among pre-therapy characteristics of patients, therapy process patterns believed to mediate change, and multivariate outcomes. His research has involved a variety of psychotherapies and patient populations. He has a particular interest in studying psychodynamic psychotherapy, personality disorders, group psychotherapy, alexithymia, and men’s mental health. Dr. Ogrodniczuk has held several grants to support his research and has published extensively. He is a past recipient of the Outstanding Early Career Achievement Award that is presented by the Society for Psychotherapy Research. In addition to his research, Dr. Ogrodniczuk is involved with teaching medical students and psychiatry residents, serves in various capacities with a number of scientific and clinical journals, and maintains a consulting practice, Optimum Life Consulting. He is Past- President of the North American chapter of the International Society for Psychotherapy Research.
