Rahul Soma

Dr. Soma has been with the Department since completing his postgraduate education in psychiatry at UBC in 2017. He is an outpatient psychiatrist at Richmond Hospital, and is an integral part of the group therapy program. He also has roles in shared care and the cross-cultural psychiatry program, and provides consultation to a provincial bariatric surgery program. He holds an appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor with the Department.

Since 2023, Dr. Soma has served as the Discipline-Specific Site Leader for Psychiatry PGE at Richmond Hospital, working closely with the Associate Program Director for the Vancouver Track and colleagues across sites to address trainee safety, supervision quality and elective opportunities for residents. He also serves as the Psychotherapy Site Director at Richmond Hospital and has consistently supervised residents across multiple training levels throughout his career. His contributions to resident education were recognized with the UBC Psychiatry Residents Association Award for Excellence in Postgraduate Clinical Teaching in 2024 and 2026.
