The IMH’s interdisciplinary membership includes basic and clinical researchers from all UBC faculties, whose activities aim to build on recent advances in the fields relevant to mental health and neuroscience, to translate these advances into clinically effective preventive and treatment strategies, and to train and educate young researchers and clinicians.

Applying for Membership to the UBC IMH
Eligibility Guidelines and Instructions
Applications for membership to the UBC IMH are invited from researchers who:
- Hold an active academic or clinical faculty appointment at UBC.
- Are engaged in or are interested in pursuing basic science, clinical, population health, or health services research relevant to mental health.
Applicants must complete the UBC IMH MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION FORM, and submit this along with a CURRENT CV, and (optional) a PROFILE PHOTO.
Responsibilities and Expectations
UBC IMH Members are expected to:
- Demonstrate a commitment to mental health research through evidence of ongoing scholarly contributions to the field.
- Play an active role in UBC IMH activities and initiatives, including research, education, fundraising and community events.
- Participate in mentorship of trainees, fellows, junior faculty members, as appropriate.
Membership Benefits

- Funding opportunities for members and their trainees.
- Research support infrastructure, such as grant facilitation for PIs and trainees and internal peer review.
- Mentorship opportunities for new investigators.
- Training, educational and public outreach opportunities.
- Opportunities for collaboration and community networking.
- Use of UBC Psychiatry meeting and conference rooms, audiovisual resources, information technology systems, communications/media assistance, and administrative support.
All membership applications will undergo review and the outcomes will be communicated directly to the applicant via email.
