IMH SHOWCASE: IVAN TORRES

Meet Dr. Ivan Torres, a Stimulus Grant Awardee and dedicated Clinical Professor at UBC’s Department of Psychiatry. Trained as a clinical neuropsychologist, his research focuses on cognitive functioning in severe mood and psychotic disorders, bridging research with clinical practice to enhance patient care. When he’s not advancing mental health research, Dr. Torres enjoys keeping active and playing in a rock band.

IMH SHOWCASE: ALOK KULKARNI

Meet Dr. Alok Kulkarni, a Psychiatrist from India and an IMH Marshall Fellow at UBC’s Mood Disorders Centre. Dr. Kulkarni has contributed significantly to the field of Psychiatry through his private practice and clinical research, including current work on novel treatments for Bipolar Disorder and identifying sex differences in treatment responses. An avid sports enthusiast and mental health advocate, Dr. Kulkarni brings a wealth of expertise and passion to his work and community.

IMH SHOWCASE: CLARE KILLIKELLY

Meet Dr. Clare Killikelly, an IMH Marshall Fellow and Clinical Psychologist addressing prolonged grief and the psychological impacts on refugees. This summer, she will be hosting focus groups using participatory action research to examine migrants’ grieving experiences and explore the role of technology and online support. Dr. Killikelly is passionate about developing culturally informed, accessible mental health assessments and interventions, and enjoys mentoring motivated students who contribute valuable cultural insights to her research.

IMH SHOWCASE: CHITHRA PREAM RAJU

Meet Dr. Chithra Pream Raju, a Marshall Fellow and dedicated Psychiatrist from India. Dr. Pream Raju’s research focuses on bipolar disorder, substance use disorders, and maternal mental health at the UBC Mood Disorders Clinic, where she applies a holistic approach towards mental health. Outside of her professional pursuits, Dr. Pream Raju enjoys traveling, music, and dancing, always eager to explore new cultures and dance forms!
